Our 3-year-old, Sutton, has struggled a LOT with sickness ever since he was little. He doesn’t have a great immune system, so we have had to be very intentional – and creative – about ensuring that he stays healthy.

It’s important for me to do everything that I can to try and keep our little family healthy!

I am sharing 4 things that have helped us in supporting immune health.

1. Juicing

I am a huge fan of juicing! Jesse and I used to go to a juicery, but it can get really expensive. We’re doing our best to save money and get completely out of debt right now, so I’ve started juicing at home.

The best part about this is that you can throw nearly anything in the blender and nobody knows what’s in there! For a toddler, it’s a dream!

Some of the best fruits and vegetables to help boost immunity are:

Citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, limes) broccoli, red bell pepper, turmeric, garlic, ginger, spinach, yogurt, almonds, green tea and kiwi.

One of my go-to flavor combinations is: Apple, lemon, kale, cayenne pepper, garlic, turmeric, ginger and spinach. It sounds strange but it is so good and so incredibly healthy for you!

2. Alive Multivitamins

Growing up, my parents always gave me my vitamins (and I actually looked forward to trying them! I wanted to make sure that I continued implementing that now that I’m a mom.

Jesse, Sutton and I are currently taking Alive! Multivitamins to help support our overall health and to help maintain a healthy immune system. Sutton loves the gummies and we take the Ultra Potency tablets every day as part of our morning routine.

These vitamins contain fruits and vegetables like Acai, asparagus, banana, broccoli, brussels sprouts, grapes, peas, pineapple, pumpkin and spinach. They are also gluten free without any added artificial colors, flavors or preservatives!

I have become avid when it comes to vitamins and have seen a massive difference in Sutton’s overall health ever since he started taking them regularly.

3. Wipe grocery cards and wash hands

This is an obvious one, but it’s something that I believe makes a huge impact. Wipe down your grocery carts before you touch them and wash your hands every time you come home from running errands!

Also, take your shoes off outside. A study conducted at the University of Arizona found an average of 421,000 bacteria on the outside of shoes, with nine different strains of bacteria.

4. Probiotics

Not only are probiotics great for your digestive system, they are great for fighting sickness as well! They have been shown to promote the production of natural antibodies in the body while reducing the likelihood and duration of respiratory infections.

We have been giving Saxon and Sutton a small dose of probiotics every day in their water or milk. It doesn’t taste like anything and helps them to get over their colds quickly!
