We recently visited Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a little family getaway and it was one of my favorite trips we’ve ever been on! It was so simple but we were all in our elements and I don’t think we realized how desperately we needed some time to just disconnect and relax.

Jesse is always incredibly busy with work during the summer – and we are so grateful for that – but I would be lying if I said I didn’t eagerly await the Fall  so that we can have a little bit more time with him as work slows down.

Colorado in the Fall is more gorgeous than I ever could have imagined. The colors of the changing leaves made the drive up so beautiful and the AirBnB that we stayed at was in the perfect location. Every morning we walked to the coffee shop which was only two minutes away. Every person we passed was so friendly and would stop to say hello. I honestly never get tired of that!

We then walked to the bakery for a pastry or a delicious green chile breakfast burrito (I was a very happy girl to find green chile somewhere other than New Mexico!) Everything was so close to the house that it was easy for Sutton and Milo to walk with us, but enough of an adventure that they loved every second of it.

The San Juan River was only a minute walk from our house (opposite the coffee shop) and we spent a lot of time there. Sutton could have thrown rocks into the river all day long without getting even slightly bored – which definitely isn’t common for him!

We saw a Wildlife Refuge as we drove into Pagosa so we decided to take a little trip there in the morning on our second day. They had a grizzly bear (we hadn’t ever seen one in real life – they are HUGE), coyotes, wolves, elk, mountain lions and more. Jesse fed the overly-eager goats but Sutton was too terrified to try. 😉

We took Sutton up to a little park by the Hot Springs and then hung out by the resort before we grabbed tacos at Kip’s Grill. They have a cute little Malt Shop across the street so we grabbed a Hot Fudge Sundae for Sutton and a chocolate malt for Jesse and me to share!  I tend to be such a planner with vacations (itineraries and all) so it was really refreshing for me not to have any plans and to just do whatever we felt like doing.

Here are a few photos from our house! We absolutely loved our AirBnB and will definitely stay there again when we return to Pagosa. If you’re looking for the perfect, quaint place to stay, check out this house!

With Grace,

Lindsey
